We did it...
In a moment of simultaneous weakness and bravery (ok - I'm being overly dramatic...) we did it. We got Nolan's hair cut. Sigh. I know it was long, but we really did love his baby curls. sniff.
Anyways, we headed out to a place known as Little Clippers to let the professionals handle what I thought would be a squirmy, protesting toddler. Um, this place is awesome!! It's a kid's haircut place disguised as kid heaven. We got there early to let Nolan play and get acquainted with his surroundings. They had a couple of cars for him to sit in. And you can be sure he loved that!
Onto the actual hair cut. I was so worried he'd have a hard time, but they were great there! They were quick, friendly, he got to drive a car while having his hair cut, they had toys, they even played an Elmo dvd during his cut. He did great!
and look at this, he even got a "My First Haircut" certificate and they attached a lock of his hair. Don't mind his frown-face...he was upset that he couldn't get down and play ;)
So yep, now my baby officially looks like a big boy. And while I miss the baby curls, I think he looks pretty darned handsome!!
Oh, and here is a video of him getting his haircut if you want to watch :)
You will notice in the video that he signs "all done" a number of times, but he still hung in there!

hurry, hurry, drive the firetruck!
checkin' his "blind spot'
his *favorite* car was the Barbie car... only because it had doors.
he kept climbing in and out, opening and closing the doors and no way, no how was any other baby allowed in that car while Nolan was around :)
making sure everything was running OK
They even had computer/gaming stations for big kids. Aunt Ashley was right at home, ha ha!

uh oh - a brief moment of panic...
nothing that a toy train can't fix!
ta-da! "hey I look pretty good!"

Father's Day Weekend 2012
We had such a great Father's Day weekend! I'm not going to get all sappy, but let's just say that Nolan and I think his dad is really awesome! It's been such a pleasure to watch Steve become an amazing father over the last year and a half.
We spent the weekend just spending time together sharing lots of laughs. It was a beautiful weekend!
On Saturday we took Nolan out to a fountain downtown. He had such a great time splashing and playing in the water!
Then on Sunday we drove out to Sauvie Island (about 20 minutes outside of Portland) to go strawberry picking!! It was so much fun! There were tractors, hay rides, music, chickens, a giant pig and of course berries!
What a gorgeous day!!
Nolan was SO intrigued by the chickens! He kept pointing at them saying "chi chi! chi chi!"
We took a hayride out into the patch
Oh my goodness Nolan was in strawberry heaven!
sharing strawberries with daddy!
he was in dirt heaven too...
can't...stop...eating... STRAWBERRIES!
strawberry face!
best buddies

June 2012
We Schabow's have been busy! Nolan is in full-on toddler mode now - constantly on the move, up, down, pulling out toys, dropping toys all over the house, up some more, down some more.... whew! We are tired but having SO. MUCH. FUN!! It's so fun for him to be out of the baby stage and to see his delight in the world around him! Here are some of the things we've been up to...
In June we took Nolan to his first parade, the Rose Festival Parade. He had so much fun watching the different floats, bands, horses and more go by.

Playing in the street waiting for the parade to start...
yeah!! "I LOVE Parades!"
"Packy the Elephant" float
Parade's are tiring!
As I mentioned above, Nolan is just a busy guy these days. Here is a look at some of his day-to-day shenanigans!
playing with his toys up on the hearth...
furniture obstacle course...
goin' fishin' in the pantry (lets pretend this is someone ELSE's messy pantry, ok? thanks)
cleaning showers... ooops, I mean he's just playing, no child labor or anything, ha ha!
making a mess in the car and truck aisle at our local toy store...
snuggling with his planes, trains and automobiles...
helping mama cook and making funny faces at the camera...
aagh!!! what a surprise... hm, no more dried strawberries for snacking in the car. But they made him SO happy. Oy!

VIDEO: Nolan "talking" on the phone - 16mos
I'm not sure where on earth he learned this?! Walking in circles around the living room laughing/talking on the phone??! Surely he isn't imitating his mother.... ;-)
oh - and don't mind our totally messy living room - I hear that's just part of having children.
Note - this is a video, if you can't see it in your mail try going to the blog: www.http://stinas-place.blogspot.com/

16 month photos - nature walk
I took Nolan down our street the other day to capture a few photos and I think they turned out really nice! I love his expressions.
