4 months

So I realize a full month has gone by since I posted.  Sorry!  Things have definitely been crazy and now that Nolan is older he's napping less meaning less time for mommy to do things like blog  ;)

Nolan is now 14lbs, 11oz and 27" long.  He's in the 97th%ile for height and is as long as the average 7.5 month old!!  Holy Moly!  No wonder this babe kicked his way out a month early, ha!  The last month has brought us many joys as a family as Nolan is growing into much more of a little boy and less of an infant.  He's now rolling from his tummy to his back - this is his favorite new trick as it gets him out of much disliked tummy time.  He's grabbing at toys and putting everything into his mouth.  He copied mommy signing for the first time (video to come in the next post).  He's also quite verbal, cooing and having very serious conversations with himself and he's laughing now too.  It's super cute!

With the good have come tough times too.  We are STILL dealing with allergy issues, projectile vomiting sometimes as many as 20x/day, waking every 3 hours to eat all through the night and just a pretty uncomfortable and fussy baby.  I'm going to spare all the details for now as things are constantly changing, but good vibes and prayers are appreciated for us through this time for sure. We head back to the GI on Tuesday so hoping for more info/help then.

Here are a few pics from this month.  I've taken a handful of videos too that I'll try to post over the next week or so!

3 Months

3 months old!, 13.3 lbs, 24 1/4" long and handsome as can be  ;)

Nolan has been keeping us busy this month! He's definitely a growing boy and is much more alert and attentive these days. He's starting to really like looking at toys and faces and he's smiling a lot more!

He's also much more vocal and loving that he's learned to pull his legs up and kick!  (you'll probably have to go to the blog to watch the video below)

This month also marked some other firsts:  Nolan's first (hopefully of many!) Packers superbowl victory!!!! Go PACK!

Also, Nolan's first attendance at a professional sports game.  We went to a Trailblazers game with some friends we made in our birth class.  Courtney and Michael have a 2 month old little girl, Stella.  They invited us to the game with them as they had free club-level tickets.  This turned out to be great!  It was nice to be out with friends who understand what having a baby is like but also when the crowd got too loud Courtney and I were able to sneak out to the club level lobby with the babies for a break, free snacks and we could still watch the game on tv.

We are still struggling with a pretty fussy little guy trying to sort out his reflux, milk and soy protein allergies and we recently found out he also has pylorospasms.  We discovered this during an upper GI x-ray study when we watched him swallow 6 oz of barium, yuck!  Anyway, the muscle at the bottom of his stomach is spasming causing his stomach to take too long to empty.  Milk just sits in his stomach and mixes with his stomach acid and if it doesn't go down it comes up burning along the way.  Ouch!  So...add that to the mix and his tummy is still a mess.  The good news is he's getting older and gaining weight well and he should grow out of all of these things in time.  We just changed his reflux medicine again and he's had a really good couple of days, so fingers crossed that things will stay that way!  We are really, really thankful to have such a healthy, beautiful little boy and not a day goes by that we don't thank God for him!

First Smile!

Nolan has just started really smiling in the last 2 weeks or so.  By "really" smiling I mean smiling when he's awake, actually happy and engaged.  (He's been doing the asleep, milk-drunk smiles for awhile)  Anyway, I finally caught a "real" smile on camera.  Oh My Heart!!

Grandma & Grandpa Schabow's visit

We were so lucky to have a visit from grandma & grandpa Schabow last week. We had a great time visiting with them and even got to have a late Christmas together. They were able to spend lots of time snuggling with Nolan and were a huge help. Steve & I even went out for dinner one night while grandma and grandpa babysat. Can't wait for our next time together! Here are some pictures from our week.

2 Months Old

It's funny how two months can feel like nothing and a lifetime all at the same time. I feel like I was just at the hospital getting ready to meet Nolan, yet I feel like he's been a part of our family forever :) Sure do love this little boy!

Little guy has been growing like crazy!! At two months old Nolan is 11.68 pounds an 24 inches long - holy cow!!! He's at the 85th %ile for length compared to other 2 month olds (he's taller than 85 % of them) and if you compare him to other 36 week babies he's at the 90th%ile (taller than 90%)!! Guess he'll be taking after his daddy in the height department ;)

Check out how much he's grown since his one month photo. The stickers are the same size!!
